The Case of the Dusty, Old Office
Some of you may be wondering about my absence during the past several days. I'm still here, I promise! Instead of reading and writing though, I've been working on a big home improvement project. (And a second smaller one as well.) Here's a progress update!
Up until recently, we had a room that we really only used for storage purposes. It was fairly small and worn down. The carpet was stained and faded. The ceiling was yucky popcorn. In short, it was not a very exciting room. But, I've begun to need an office recently and this room was the logical place to put it. So, I rearranged it and set up my desk. I was happy to have my own space, but it was a bit lacking in personality.
I thought that a new coat of paint might really help to turn it around, and I already had a color in mind. After James and I discussed it though, we decded that if we were going to paint, we should go ahead and fix a number of issues including the ceiling and the carpet.
So, that leads me to my current condition. I'm neck deep in paint and spackle, learning how remodeling works. I've been really surprised by just how much I'm enjoying it. It's hard work, for sure, but there's also something satisfying about seeing how my efforts change things. I put time into it whenever I can, but even so, it'll probably be awhile before I finish. I'll post regular updates until it's finally done! Wish me luck!
And, as a bonus, the weather finally cleared up enough yesterday for us to build out raised planter boxes. Hauling all that dirt and wood around was exhausting, but I'm so excited to plant all my veggies!
