12 Days of Christmas: Chocolate Covered Oranges
Hello again! For the 5th day of Christmas, I'm going to share a recipe that I especially love to use during the holidays. As Christmas gets closer it seems like I always get invited to last minute parties and gatherings. I love making chocolate covered oranges because they're really easy to put together at the last minute and they're always delicious without feeling heavy. Did I mention how easy they are?
6-7 Mandarin or Clementine oranges
2/3 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
sea salt/ kosher salt
Begin by peeling your oranges and separating all of the wedges. Then, warm your chips until they're fully melted. I usually do this in the microwave, heating them for 30 seconds at a time and then stirring.
Dip the wedges in the chocolate and then lay them on a piece of wax paper. The chocolate will harden fairly fast. I stop after each row to sprinkle them with salt. Let them sit in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes or so to allow the chocolate to harden all the way.
And that's it! One piece of advice for clean up though: Cleaning the chocolate out of the bowl once it hardens is a huge pain, so right after I put the oranges in the refrigerator I like to wipe all the chocolate out of the bowl with a paper towel and then just go ahead and wash it.
